International Women's Day was celebrated on 8th March. Social media was filled with praises for women yesterday. Famous politicians including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and film celebrities including Kamal Haasan wished for women's day.

Meanwhile, legendary Tamil cinema lyricist Vairamuthu took to his Twitter page to share a special poem to wish women on their special day. The English translation of his Tamil poem is:

"Women don't ask for garland and jewellery but she asks for respect. Women don't ask for houses and assets but she asks for education. Women don't ask for luxury and recognition but she asks for faith.

Try giving her, she will protect herself and men too.

Happy International Women's day."

Chinmayi Sripaada is a famous playback singer, who accused Vairamuthu of sexual abuse and ignited the 'Me Too' movement in Tamil cinema. She replied to Vairamuthu's tweet with a counter-poem against sexual predators. The English translation of her Tamil reply is:

"When a woman goes out of the house, she is not asking for lustful monsters but she asks for safety.

When a woman calls out a sexual predator, she is not asking for defaming gossip but she asks for justice.

I can’t get over how he speaks about women’s lib and safety. The gall." (sic).

These two tweets are going viral on social media now.
